Electric Scrap Baler: the Roter RR5/RR6 on Mains Power
CE Certified · 30+ Years Engineering Heritage · On-Site Installation Included · Global Spare Parts Supply
An electric scrap baler is a hydraulic baling press whose pump is driven by a mains-powered electric motor instead of a diesel engine, suited to fixed or semi-fixed sites with an adequate electrical supply.
The Roter RR5/RR6 is available with a 75 kW electric motor, with a 90 kW option, as an alternative to its standard Perkins or CAT diesel engine. Both versions are designed and built in Ferrara, Italy, and share the same Parker PV Plus Series main pump.
The Power Decision Comes Before the Machine
Every scrap baler is a question of where its energy comes from. On a remote clearance job, a diesel engine is the only practical answer. On an established yard with a strong electrical connection, many operators prefer to run the press from the mains. Roter’s engineers designed the RR Series so that the choice belongs to the site, not to the catalogue.
| Electric RR5/RR6 | Diesel RR5/RR6 | |

What to Check Before You Choose Electric
- Supply capacity. Confirm that your connection can carry a 75 kW or 90 kW motor alongside the rest of the site load. Our engineers review this with you during the technical consultation.
- How often the press moves. If it will travel between sites, a diesel unit on a three-axle trailer or roll-on/roll-off frame is usually the better fit.
- Cable routing and layout. Plan where the supply reaches the machine and how loading traffic moves around it.
- Climate. Preheated hydraulic oil is available as an option for cold-weather operation.
The Same Baler, Whatever Drives It
Changing the drive does not change the machine. The electric RR5/RR6 keeps the engineering that defines the series:
- Box length of 5 m (RR5) or 6 m (RR6).
- Published throughput of 15–20 t/h on end-of-life vehicles and 8–14 t/h on vans and light mixed scrap.
- Three cylinders, positioned asymmetrically to concentrate force where the material resists most. Read the engineering.
- No foundation in any configuration, so no civil works before the first bale.
- One operator, with radio remote control and a 7″ or 10″ touch screen.
- All ferrous and non-ferrous metals, from car shells to light mixed scrap.

Electric Scrap Baler: Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Roter RR5/RR6 available with an electric motor?
Yes. The RR5/RR6 is available with a 75 kW electric motor, with a 90 kW option. A Perkins or CAT diesel engine is the standard drive.
Should I choose an electric or a diesel scrap baler?
Electric suits fixed or semi-mobile installations with an adequate mains supply. Diesel suits trailer-mounted and roll-on/roll-off units and sites without mains power.
Does the electric version bale as much as the diesel?
Roter publishes one throughput rating for the RR5/RR6: 15–20 t/h on end-of-life vehicles and 8–14 t/h on light mixed scrap. Our engineers confirm real output against your material and drive before quoting.
Does an electric scrap baler need a foundation?
The RR5/RR6 needs no foundation in any configuration, whichever drive you choose.
